ABOUT NOTO

Business design.
Starting with product design.

Industrial Design: Team member of our design studio in Cologne

AFTER 16 YEARS OF SUCCESSFUL PRODUCT DESIGN WE ARE PROUD OF WHAT WE HAVE ENABLED – VISUALLY AND ECONOMICALLY. WE’VE BEEN AWARDED WITH SOME OF THE MOST RECOGNIZED DESIGN AWARDS AND HELPED BUSINESSES TO GROW PROSPEROUS. BUT WITH ALL THESE EXPERIENCES WE’VE CHANGED, TOO. WE FEEL IT IS THE RIGHT TIME TO GIVE OUR COMPANY A NEW IDENTITY.

We’ve always believed in digging deep into a business model. What are the real needs of the customer? How could the resources be used more efficiently? What is needed to better commercialize the product? An understanding of the business model is key to creating successful products.

Based on this understanding we sometimes even improve the business model itself. We help start-ups to take the next hurdle, support design departments in refocussing on their job and stimulate companies to do better business. This has made us business design partners, starting with product design. We design your growth by enriching life.

WE ARE NOTO. WELCOME.

Testimonials

Why clients choose us as design partner.

MOST OF OUR CLIENTS HAVE BEEN PARTNERS FOR YEARS AND APPRECIATE THE QUALITY OF DESIGN, COOPERATION AND COMMUNICATION – HERE IS WHAT THEY SAY:

“Working with Noto has been a pleasure. The team is switched-on and open-minded. They go the extra mile to understand the brand DNA, the culture, the products and the complexity of the challenges enabling them to come up with solutions that are beautifully simple. They work well with all the stakeholders and are a respected design-partner for Bang & Olufsen.”

Marie Schmidt – Corporate Vice President, Head of Brand, Design & Marketing / Bang & OlufseN

“Crestron has always had world class engineering, but we were in search of a world class partner to take us to a new level in industrial design as it relates the human experience. Noto’s holistic approach accompanied by their aesthetic quality is helping to take us there.”

Fred Bargetzi – CTO Crestron

„During the search for an experienced design partner for the journey from idea to a market-ready product, we were lucky enough to come across Noto. Together, we developed the DNA for Heimplanet tents, the external inflatable support structures which represent the perfect symbiosis of technical function and aesthetic appearance wonderfully. Together with Noto, we were able to consequently make the sometimes radical – but necessary – decisions in all phases of product development, right up to the implementation.”

Stefan Clauss – Co-Founder & CEO / Heimplanet

“As head of design at Swisscom, I am responsible for user interface Design, industrial design, manuals and packaging. Noto, who have taken over the hardware design for us, helped us develop our own formal design language. The convincing simplicity of the Noto-designed products has contributed to raising the understanding of the importance of design within the whole company. “

Guy Papstein – Head of Design / Swisscom

“With the PFA quick release tensioning system, Noto developed a patentable unique selling proposition for us in the saturated avalanche probe market. After the comprehensive implementation of the solution in our avalanche probes, we were able to raise our market share from 18% to 24%. The Noto approach of generating value for our users as well as our company is enough of a reason to further develop this cooperation.”

Dieter Kotlaba – Head of Hardware / Ortovox Sportartikel GmbH

Industrial Design: Studiolife in our design studio in Cologne

Service Design Intern (m/f) – Six month internship starting September 2017

Job brief

We are looking for someone who is eager to develop, prototype, communicate and test new Noto service offers and business models with us. You should have studied for at least five semesters in the area of service design and be proficient in the creation of visual and graphical content as well as communication in written and spoken English. German would be appreciated but is not a must. Would you enjoy working with a young, dynamic team of product designers? Then apply now!

Responsibilities

To get to know our processes and the way we work as a design team together with our clients, you will dive into the topic and the analysis of Noto as a design service provider. Based on the analysis you will explore and ideate on opportunities for new Noto services and business models for our current as well as future customers. To evaluate and test the drafts you will create and prototype materials, graphics and tools. The concepts which gain traction during testing will be then refined and finalised by you together with the team so they can be launched and communicated.

What we can offer

As a member of the strategic team you will take part in shaping Noto’s strategy and future. Also, we are happy to share our experience, competencies and methodologies in our three core areas of industrial design, business design and design research with you. During your internship you may work self-dependently as much as you desire and with as much support as you need. At Noto we work with a flat hierarchy and enjoy direct communication as well as team events like running in the Cologne marathon and playing (table) tennis.

Industrial Design Intern (m/f) – Six month internship starting September 2017

Job brief

We are looking for someone who is highly motivated, an excellent and team-minded professional to work with in industrial design projects. Working for Noto means experiencing the full scope of tasks within product design and product development. Have you at least finished the fifth semester and do you have language skills in German and English? When you are more than familiar with Rhinoceros and Adobe CS and enjoy working with a young, dynamic team of product designers, then apply now!

Responsibilities

You will develop concepts that enter markets after a short time period and work on scenarios describing the world in fifteen years from now. You will design highly complex machines as well as products, which are still nearly completely handmade. You will work as a service provider for global players and on the other hand team up with young and promising start-up companies.

What we can offer

As a member of the design team you will take part in shaping Noto’s projects. Also, we are happy to share our experience, competencies and methodologies in our three core areas of industrial design, business design and design research with you.
